Growing up I would make these simple and healthy treats often. I decided to make them again, realizing they’re the perfect thing to snack on before a workout for some extra energy. Coconut oil in itself has so many health benefits: including antimicrobial effects, reduces hunger, assists in healthy hair, skin, and nails and is good for heart health. The nut butter adds that punch of protein as well. Enjoy!!
1/2 cup coconut oil
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1/2 cup peanut or almond butter
1/4 cup maple syrup
pinch of salt
Measure all ingredients into a saucepan and stir gently as it melts. Line a bread pan with parchment.
Once it is all melted pour into prepared pan and pop into the freezer for 45 minutes or until it is firm.
Take out, cut into desired sized squares, and enjoy!! Keep in fridge especially in the warmer months to prevent melting.
